Getting Focused

An advisor once told me, "If you focus on everything then you're focused on nothing." Over the past year and half I have thought about that statement...a lot.       Many times it is easy for us to get caught up in so many dreams of how to make things better.  In and of themselves those dreams are not bad, but they can become problematic if we lose our focus on the G-D who created and empowers us to fulfill a purpose that He lovingly made for us.      The L-RD is working His plan via all the people, circumstances, struggles, and triumphs that He intentionally places in our lives in order to instigate transformation. Yet, all too often we lose focus when we zone in on all the things around us to such the degree that we analyze them as individual events; rather than significant strands of a unified cord called----purpose.       There is nothing random that happens in life; every spec of our existence is uniq...

"But, God I'm Scared..."

Every year about this time I read the book of Deuteronomy about the children of Israel finally going into the land that God promised. This is the time of year that many are beginning new things as a new school year quickly approaches. And new beginnings often carry with it a unique sense of fear or anxiousness.        When reading Deuteronomy, I cannot help but to think about the constant command that God gives in this passage of "not being afraid." There were giants in the land, there were a lot of people who would need to be conquered, and so much more. There was the potential for a huge crisis of faith here. So it appears that Moses works really hard to make sure the people remember w...

Enjoy the Process??!!

Most of us do not like processes.  We don't like them in airports, grocery stores, college admission offices, and especially not exercise and fitness. Much of the reason we don't like processes is because we have to wait.     Recently, I re-heard something that I have been hearing my whole life, but now with new ears. Check it out,           "G-D created the world in 6 days and then He rested." Life changing right?  Since G-D is absolutely amazing and can do anything, why did He not create the world in a millisecond or even a hour? Why 6 days? Why did the most powerful G-D in the universe take 6 days to create the world?    Answer: to teach us the value of the process.     So many times, we get frustrated when G-D does not create what we need immediately.  We wrestle with Him on why He takes so long to bring our soul mates, provide us clarity in career or college choices, heal a family...
