Why Are So Many Great Women Single: Part V

My quest to find the answer to "why are so many great women single" begins in Genesis 24.  While the question itself is rooted in my own experience and that of many amazing, yet single women around me.  The question burns in me and I consistently wrestle in prayer on this very topic.  At this juncture in my life I feel that, "Lord, I'm walking in Your ways in preparing myself as a wife and keeping myself for my husband.  So what's the hold up?"
So in efforts to find my answer; I turned to the Word.  The only place I know that will give me an answer from God Himself.  I turned to Genesis 24.  Let's pick up where we left off in Part IV.

Challenge #3~ Cultivate humility through prayer

In Genesis 24:10-14, we read that Eliezar (the servant sent to find Issac his bride) goes back to Abraham's family's place to find a wife for Issac and he prays. He prays! Imagine- the man who represents one of the wealthiest and most well-known men in the area (Abraham) is looking for a wife for his master's son and even he prays for success!  He prays, "grant me success today." It's intriguing that Eliezar doesn't assume that since he's loaded with some of Abraham's wealth ("10 camels laden with all types of goods" verse 10) that he's automatically going to be able to get the right bride for Issac.  Instead, Elieazar depends on God to grant him success!
What an appropriate challenge for us as women; who have experienced success in so many fields.  Our familiarity with accomplishment may at times cause us to forget to discipline ourselves in daily asking God to grant us success in every venture.  We can't depend on our accolades, degrees, talents, nor gifts.  Instead, we must depend on our loving Heavenly Father to grant us success at every turn especially regarding being united with our soul mates.  Yes, like Eliezar, in many ways we come "laden with goods" but we must not presume success based on the goods; but on the God who does everything for our best! The following is a prayer that I have begun to pray before every date,
"Lord, please help me reach the right conclusion about this man I'm about to     meet. I need you! Please make my way successful in which direction I should go."

Pray for success!

Remember S.W.A.G. "It's all about the way you walk." (Psalm. 128:1 "Blessed is everyone who walks in His ways.")
