Why Are So Many Great Women Single? Part IV

It is one of the quintessential questions of our culture.  The reality that women, who desire to be married, and by all estimations have all "the ducks in a row," but remain single is...well a bit confusing.  A generation where good, hard working, educated, and attractive women have yet to have a ring put on it is obviously a topic of lively discussion and head-scratching inquiry. It is against this backdrop that I turn to G-D's Word to get some answers.
Genesis 24, the longest chapter in the Bible about love and relationships first presents us with challenges and in so doing also presents us with answers to our question. Challenge #1: to be set apart for a purpose; to rise above temptation and do what G-D says is right. Challenge #2: the challenge to be a woman who walks or follows in faith
Abraham made his servant, Eliezar, swear that he get a woman who "consented to follow." We must remember that Abraham, by faith, left all that he knew to follow G-D's command and promise.  So too, this woman, who Eliezar must find, has got to be a woman who follows her faith.  She had to be a woman who was resolute to walk in the way G-D was showing her; without knowing every piece of the journey.  How fitting is this challenge for us today; especially as women who are professionals in planning goals and all the steps we will take to reach them? In this challenge, G-D is giving us a message about relinquishing our "must know" to Him.
This journey to our soul-mate is composed of many steps of faith.  Faith is not merely an intellectual consent that something or someone is true; it is an active doing of what that faith requires.  And as we see in Genesis 24, the woman that Eliezar was searching for was a woman who DID what her faith required. So what about us?  Will we consent to follow Him in faith; even when it seems that not one man will "get himself together" (more about this one later)? Will we be taken captive by the disillusionment and disappointment that so often pervades the singles' scene? Or will we continue walking in active faith, believing and receiving all that our Father has planned for us?

Remember S.W.A.G. "It's all about the way you walk." (Psalm. 128:1 "Blessed is everyone who walks in His ways.")
